Azúcar is the fulfillment of a life-long dream for Vivian Hernandez-Jackson. Vivian has combined her classical French training with her Cuban roots to develop a unnique product line of desserts and pastries that combines traditional favorites with new flavors and designs.


History in the making

Born and raised in Miami to Cuban parents, Vivian Hernandez has been baking since the age of seven. Dessert was always a huge part of growing up and every meal was followed by something sweet. Being one of five children, Vivian had plenty of taste testers.Since 2008, Vivian has brought her sweets into the homes of all her customers.


Background and Credentials

By the time she reached high school, Vivian was making birthday and special occasion cakes for many customers. After studying hospitality at Florida International University, she left to London to persue her childhood dream; attending Le Cordon Bleu. After achieving the prestigious Grande Diplomme, she worked as a pastry chef at Claridge’s in London and Loews Hotel in Miami Beach.

A few years later she made the move to California to teach baking and pastry at a local culinary school.Vivian and her husband Bert live in Ocean Beach along with their daughters Estella and Pearl and their chocolate lab Manolo.
